St Anthony of Padua Catholic College in Austral, New South Wales, underwent a significant redevelopment to expand its capacity and better serve its growing student community. Completed late 2024, this transformative project included the construction of new buildings, modern sports facilities, and thoughtfully designed landscaping, all aimed at creating a sustainable, functional, and student-focused learning environment.
The $153 million high-tech school is set over 15.5 hectares and is in Sydney’s new epicentre of economic growth and will boast something for every type of learner and leader of the future.
The college’s redevelopment was among a short list of projects fast-tracked by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment in response to COVID-19, to help create jobs statewide including the flourishing Austral and Leppington North community, where this college sits.
Key Features of the Redevelopment:
Flexible Learning Spaces:
Purpose-built areas were created to support individual study, small group collaboration, and large group learning, fostering adaptability and engagement.
Sustainability Initiatives:
The redevelopment incorporated solar panels for renewable energy, a student-run market garden to cultivate fresh produce, and a piazza for vibrant community gatherings.
Outdoor Amenities:
Sports fields, multi-purpose courts, and an additional oval were added to encourage physical activity and outdoor learning.
Community-Focused Spaces:
A central forum was established to connect learning hubs with administration, the resource centre, and other community-oriented facilities.
Wellness Centre:
A dedicated space was built to offer counselling, health services, and career guidance, supporting student well-being and development.
Novon was proud to supply over 4900 luminaires, with 1730.1m of Linear Lighting Systems and 1817.5m of LED Strip Lighting throughout the entire school, ensuring each space was illuminated with energy-efficient and sustainable lighting solutions.
